Grand Teton Brewing Company (Victor, ID) is located at the base of both Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park and has been in business since 1988. It was one of the first microbreweries to advocate the use of growlers (half-gallon glass jugs) as a way to decrease the production of bottles and cans and allow customers to transport fresh beer back to their homes.Black Cauldron Imperial Stout (8% ABV) has an aroma of roasted malt, dark roast coffee, bittersweet chocolate, licorice and molasses. Appearance is black as obsidian with a resinous layer of creamy light brown head. Taste begins with strong roasted malt and espresso flavors followed by caramel, dark chocolate, vanilla, raisins, roast nuts and whiskey. Mouthfeel is full-bodied and creamy with low carbonation. Finish is smoky and bitter with a warm alcohol bite. The whiskey flavor blends nicely with the roasty malt, chocolate and coffee. This is a rich and potent Imperial Stout with just enough complexity to keep you coming back for more.
